Park Open Studio: Pop-up Park Postcards with Rhonda Weppler
Led by a local teaching artist, this drop-in class invites participants to explore creativity through hands-on artmaking under the shade of Scrabble Plaza’s trees. Past mediums have included plein-air drawing, printmaking, cyanotypes, and more. All materials are provided by WSPC.
About the Workshop
Pop-up Park Postcards (Thursdays)
Based on Victorian souvenir 'virtual reality' tunnel books, participants design folding, 3D paper viewers of the park. Depictions can be either realistic, surreal, or imagined. Participants use Victorian-styled stickers and/or vintage, black and white-printed etchings colorized with watercolor paint. Mash up the present and past by including images from today. To complete your project, embellish a card box that mimics original tunnel book slipcases.
